Turn up the Love

Jan 23, 2023

We mostly listen to our ♥ when making a romantic decision and falling in ♥, we listen to our gut feeling when following an instinct, and we listen to our friends when we need a quick general advice. But many of us struggle when it comes to listening to our bodies. Sure, we can be advised to listen to our bodies all day long, but that doesn’t do us any good if we don’t know how.

  • Food diary anyone? You want to become clearer about how certain foods interact with your body? The good, the bad, and the ugly? Commit a week to simply writing down what you ate and how it made you feel. Which foods made you feel full of energy, vibrant, and alive, and which foods were draining or made you feel drowsy? If you enjoyed doing this, consider making it a part of your everyday routine. There are 3 types of hunger, get in tune with your body and listen to your hunger • Stomach Hunger: this is real, it’s the physical / medical necessity to eat. EAT! • Mouth Hunger: this one is all about cravings and senses and is not real hunger. We all know how hard it is to ignore that smell of newly baked cookies! • Heart Hunger: this one is driven by emotional triggers and learned behavior, deal with the psychology behind the emotions, not by eating!

  • Keep Your Eyes on You Living in a culture that everything is online and privacy is a long-lost privilege, we are constantly told, ironically, to mind our own business, so why aren’t we doing this when it comes to listening to our bodies? When we struggle to lose that extra bit of weight, we look for validation from others. Sound familiar? Well, that’s not going to work, we are all different and what works for one may not work for another. So, if your best friend is getting her downward-dog on but it makes you cringe, then find your perfect exercise! The more you focus on yourself and how you’re feeling, the more in tune you’ll become with your body.

  • Make Time for Yourself Arguably the most meaningful step to turn up the ♥, taking just a few minutes of quiet time for yourself not only restores mental and physical energy, but also boosts energy, increases productivity, reduces stress and improves your overall health. Be sure to step away from all the chaos, a good way of doing this is to visit the Spa. We can’t think of a better way to give yourself a big, fat load of ♥ by letting the stress melt away with a traditional Classic Swedish massage and while you are at it, give full body exfoliation a try, a spa treatment known to improve circulation and renew the skin (win, win)!

With a massage, you are simply present in the moment in a gentle, nonjudgmental way that can help you nurture self-acceptance, quiet the “mental chatter” sabotaging your wellbeing, while recognizing that patience is important in self-care and ♥. Visit us this February and…
